Memorial Cathedral for World Peace was constructed in 1954, in response to the earnest prayer of Father Hugo Lassalle, one of the A-bomb survivors. It was completed with financial and spiritual support from various people in the world, including the Pope. Holy sounds from the four bells, installed in the turret on the left side toward the front of the cathedral, ring out three times a day.
